Sims Legion Park has been the proud host of the Grizzlies since 2002. In the early 90's the park hosted the Gastonia Rangers, the single-a affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The park was built in 1950 but underwent a total renovation in 1977, and has hosted numerous teams since then.

Such greats to call Sims Legion Park home:
Andy Van Slyke (Cardinals, Pirates), Sammy Sosa (Rangers, White Sox, Cubs, Orioles), Juan Gonzales (Rangers, Tigers, Indians, Royals), Ivan Rodriguez (Rangers, Marlins, tigers). As well as former Major Leaguer Tug McGraw (Mets, Phillies) who pitched one game for the Rangers in 1989.

Now, each year more than 100 events take place at Sims Legion Park including high school baseball, college baseball and American Legion baseball. In 2008 Sims Legion will host the American Legion State Tournament.

Sims Legion seats more than 2500 fans and offers two grandstands, 200 box sets and a picnic area.  It is a great place to bring the family on a summer night and watch good baseball and enjoy some family fun.

This summer, Lipscomb Signs has teamed up with the Grizzlies and the City of Gastonia to build a brand new state-of-the-art electronic scoreboard for Sims Legion Park.  A huge step up from the current manual scoreboard, it will measure 24 feet and 9 inches tall and 36 feet wide.  It will feature an 8 feet, 2 inches tall and 16 feet, 2 inches wide video board which will display advertisments, player statistics and short video clips.
